Research Chemist: BSc. Chemistry

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory experiments for the synthesis and scale-up of specialty chemical esters, and/or related products from milligram to kilogram quantities.

  • Plan and execute synthetic routes, develop process, SOP documents to inform experimental design.

  • Develop and optimize chemical processes for advanced oleochemicals and finished products, considering chemical, physical, and preparative aspects.

  • Evaluate, document, and analyze experimental results and prepare detailed laboratory development reports.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical, safety, to ensure project alignment and knowledge sharing.

  • Adhere strictly to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), ensuring all experiments are conducted safely and in compliance with industry standards.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, manage laboratory equipment, and ensure quality control throughout the development process.

  • Present experimental findings to senior staff and contribute to scientific papers, reports, or reviews as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in organic chemistry, oleochemicals or a related field, with strong theoretical and practical knowledge in organic synthesis.

  • 1-2 years of experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or agrochemical industry, either as a bench chemist or through an internship.

  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as titration, chromatography, spectroscopy, and familiarity with laboratory instrumentation (e.g., FTIR, GC, HPLC, UV-Vis).

  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and research skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective written and oral communication abilities, and the capacity to work well within a team.

  • Strong commitment to laboratory safety, data integrity, and ethical research practices.
